What is a Fresh 48 Session

I am so excited to now be offering Fresh 48 sessions.

I have offered in home newborn sessions which document the new time with baby home and it especially documents things you do with your baby in everyday life. I wanted to offer fresh 48 sessions because it documents a time that isn't a normal everyday moment because it happens so quickly. It is just a few short days in the hospital or birthing center after your baby is just born. It is such a fleeting and beautiful time. I felt it also deserved to be documented.

What is a fresh 48 session?

It is a session that takes place in the hospital room or birthing center within 48 hours of your baby being born. If you are having a longer hospital stay it can be done past 48 hours.

What is included in a fresh 48 session?

There is no set timeframe for a fresh 48 session. I don't want to take up a lot of time you have in the hospital with the baby and I know there are always a lot of things that need to be done in that timeframe. I don't set an amount of time in case something does come up like the nurse needs to see the baby or the baby is upset. I estimate it will be about an hour but it can be a little less or a little more.

The session includes photos that are unique to this type of session. Like cuddles in the hospital bed, baby meeting family members for the first time, baby photos in the hospital crib, and signage introducing little one. If you want a specific moment captured, let me know and we can be sure to document it. But most importantly it includes little things that you don't want to forget like how baby's tiny hand grips onto your finger, their little feet kicking, and the amazement in your eyes that this child that you have been so excited to meet is finally here.

How do we schedule it since a baby's arrival is unpredictable?

Since we won't know the exact date I need to be there I only schedule 1 to 2 fresh 48 sessions per month to guarantee there is no overlap. I am only currently scheduling these sessions until April 2027 so I recommend booking in advanced to guarantee your spot. Once it is scheduled I will send you the full instructions on how to reach me to schedule a time. Essentially you will reach out to me once baby is born and we will then find a time that works, I will provide all that detail after the booking.

What happens if you can't make it once baby is born?

If for some reason I am unable to get to the hospital after baby has arrived I will change the session to an in home newborn session or an outdoor newborn or family session at a later time.

Where do you travel to?

I travel to any hospital or birthing center in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Since the majority of the hospitals are not in a close vicinity I do not add a travel fee if it is still in either county.

For 2026 I only have one October and one November spot open. I am currently scheduling for 2027.
