Photographing four generations together is always something special, and this extended family session in Los Olivos was a beautiful example of love, legacy, and the joy of being together.
This family was visiting Santa Ynez wine country from Los Angeles, enjoying a relaxing family vacation. To celebrate their time together, they stayed at Roblar Farm at one of their properties.
A Family Rooted in Connection
The group included great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, an aunt, and a sweet two-year-old. Four generations in one frame is such a gift, and capturing these relationships, especially with the youngest member felt incredibly meaningful.
A Personal, Colorful Theme
To make it even more fun, the family planned a thoughtful and creative outfit theme. Each person wore a color inspired by their favorite wine, from soft blush tones to deep merlot and champagne hues. The wine-inspired palette added a lovely pop of color against the beautiful greenery of the vineyard and made the photos feel both personal and vibrant.
They also brought along a bouquet of sunflowers to include in the session, which was the perfect prop. Not only did the sunflowers tie beautifully into the color palette, but they were a big hit with the little one, adding joy and movement to the images as she played and explored.
One of my favorite moments was with the great-grandfather, called Pops. He had charmingly specific opinions about where he wanted his photos taken and his favorite spot was behindthe flowers. I love when family members take ownership of the session and feel excited about being involved. Pops’ enthusiasm and warm personality were a highlight of the day.
